About Lisa
Meet Lisa
Lisa Fowler is a Registered Counselling Therapist with more than twenty years of experience in health and wellness care. She is warm and direct, with a naturally sassy streak and a great deal of grit.

1 Her story
Lisa's story
Lisa began her adult life as a teenage mother, with little sense of direction or of what the future might hold.
After about ten years of finding her way, she made a brave decision to go back to school. She enrolled in college and moved her family to New Brunswick to start a new chapter.
The road wasn't easy. Hard choices often came with hardship, and those years taught her a great deal about healing, personal growth and standing on her own two feet. Her sassy streak and her capacity to keep going turned out to be some of her greatest strengths.
Today Lisa runs her own counselling practice and private clinic in Overton, just outside Yarmouth. Her work centres on the mental health needs of her community, especially anxiety and depression, addiction and trauma.
Beyond her work, she is a very proud grandmother to three granddaughters.
It's the best gig in the world.

3 Approach
How Lisa works
Her philosophy is rooted in serving her community: helping people recognize their strengths, heal, and keep going through hard things.
Lisa believes growth comes from understanding our experiences, learning from them and using them to shape a meaningful future. Her goal is to help each person embrace what makes them unique, build resilience and grow with confidence into who they are meant to become.
In counselling she draws on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches and trauma-focused therapy.
Lisa also offers acupuncture and wellness consultations. These are separate from her counselling therapy and are not regulated by NSCCT. You can book a wellness consultation on its own, and acupuncture together with a counselling session or a wellness follow-up.

5 Looking ahead
What's next for the practice
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy for working through traumatic memories. It is not offered yet: Lisa plans to add it once her EMDR training is complete. Email Lisa if you would like to hear when it is available.
Lisa plans to begin supervising and mentoring counselling therapists in 2027, once she completes the steps NSCCT requires of approved supervisors. She believes in teaching from experience while recognizing that every therapist brings their own strengths, perspective and gifts to the profession.
