In Lisa's words

Lisa's approach

I believe growth comes from understanding our experiences, learning from them, and using them to shape a meaningful future.

Counselling and wellness sessions run in person or by video. Acupuncture and couples sessions are in person.

3 The space

A bright room with a view of the water

Sessions happen in a quiet room full of light: big windows, a live-edge coffee table, shelves of books and plants, a salt lamp and a deep sofa you can sink into. There is a calm waiting room with wicker chairs and botanical prints on the walls.

Prefer to stay home? Counselling and wellness sessions also run by video through Practice Better.

4 About Lisa

Our beginnings do not have to define our future.

Lisa became a mother as a teenager, without much sense of where life was headed. About ten years later she went back to school, moved her family to New Brunswick for college and started building something different.

Today she is a Registered Counselling Therapist with her own practice in Overton. She is also a very proud grandmother of three girls, which she calls the best gig in the world.

Doable daily habits

The small things Lisa does most days, in her own words. Yours will look different. Start with one.

  1. Early mornings

Room-temperature water first thing, to help hydrate my organs. No breakfast. A snack or breakfast around 11 a.m. It helps my energy and focus.

  2. Daily supplements

Chosen to support my body and what makes me vulnerable.

  3. Gratefulness

Being present with my surroundings: the beauty, the stillness, the peacefulness, the amazement. A strategy I learned to combat anxiety.

  4. Exercise

Walking and being outdoors, resistance training, weights, physical labour and chores.

  5. Podcasts

    Only the ones I love.

  6. Decluttering

Clothes, papers, “stuff”. Clearing my personal spaces keeps me from becoming overwhelmed. Another strategy to reduce anxiety.

6 Take a minute

Breathe with the tide

Being present is one of the tools Lisa leans on for anxiety. Try it now: breathe in as the water rises and out as it falls. Six slow breaths take about a minute.

No screen needed: breathe in for a count of four and out for a count of six, six times.

7 Getting started

Three steps to a first session

  1. Choose a first session

Book a counselling intake, a couples intake or an initial wellness consultation. Not sure which fits? Email Lisa and ask.

  2. Pick a time online

Booking runs through Practice Better, a separate client system with its own privacy policy. You will get a confirmation and reminders.

  3. Come as you are

Your first session is 50 minutes. Lisa will ask what brought you in and what you would like to change, and you will decide together where to start.
